Can I Show Your Design In My Portfolio?

It happens for me to work with clients and then to ask for permission to show the design in my portfolio. To expose it on the websites where I have account like Behance and Dribble and other ones. A part of my clients agree with this and the other part disagrees. Without telling me a strong reason.

This can be unpleasant for a designer because he can’t evolve too much creating designs without exposing them in his portfolio. Since he works at the design and the concept of a website, it’s very normal to have also the right of being seen as the person who created it. Which are the options in this case?

It’s something essential for you, as a designer, to agree with the desire of the client to not show his design in your portfolio. It’s his right and his choice. Most often, the designers ask for this permission and considering the approval or disapproval, they establish an extra fee. For example, if you establish the price of a design at 200$ and your client tells you to not show it in your works, you can, in change, to ask for an extra fee of 50$ for this.

In this way you give him all the rights regarding the design you’ve done. More exactly you give him a full license.
